COMIFAC-OFAC : Atelier de Validation de l'Etat des Forêts 2012, Hôtel Sawa, Douala, Cameroun
The OFAC (Observatory of Central African Forests), under the supervision of COMIFAC Executive Secretariat, and the financial support of the EU, GIZ, MAE/France and CIDA, organize a Workshop for the validation of the State of the Forests 2012. The Workshop will take place from 21st to 22nd of March 2013 at the Sawa Hotel in Douala, Cameroon. It will follow the 12th CBFP Meeting of Partners which will be held at the same Venue from 18 to 20th of March 2013.
After the report on the State of the Forests 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2010 prepared by partners for the Congo Basin Forests, OFAC shall take stock of the state of progress of EDF 2012.
« State of the Forests » reports make an appraisal as exhaustive as possible of the State of the Forests, ecosystems, biodiversity, population and of the socio-economic situation of the Congo Basin. Such an initiative which can only be the result of an extensive collaboration among various actors and partners needs a validation, an indispensable requirement for the legitimacy of EDF reports.
The main objective of the workshop for the validation of the « State of the Forests » report is to help actors and partners of the Congo Basin forest sector to examine and validate the « State of the Forests 2010 » report. It is also expected that the EDF report 2012 shall be drafted during this important meeting.
The Observatory for the Forests of Central Africa (OFAC) under the COMIFAC’S Executive Secretariat Supervision and supported by multiple members of the Congo Basin Forests Partnership (CBFP), aims to pool the knowledge and available data necessary to monitor the ecological, environmental, and social aspects of Central Africa's forests. Its creation follows the formidable information sharing effort that led to the 2006 State of the Forest Report.
