The "sustainable management" plan of the French Development Agency sidesteps the issue of protection of the world’s largest 11,000-year old tropical peatland.

 

 

A second setback for the French Development Agency (AFD, partner of Monde Afrique): its "Sustainable management of forests" programme was once more rejected by Norway, which funds the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI), at an 18 July meeting in Kinshasa.

COMIFAC : Extraordinary Ministers’ Conference

From 03 to 05 October 2017, the conference room of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, provided the setting for the Extraordinary Conference of Ministers of Environment and Finance of ECCAS and the East African Community on accelerating the operationnalisation of the Congo Basin Commission, the Congo Basin Blue Fund  and the Central African Green Economy Fund  and developing a common position in anticipation of COP23.

africa.fsc : Developing of the National FSC Forest Management Standard in Namibia

The FSC Principles and Criteria (P&C) define the general regulations that forest operations must comply with in order to obtain FSC forest management certification. However, any international forest management standard must be adjusted to the specific local and regional context and make them relevant to the diverse legal, social and geographical situations of forests in different parts of the world.
