16TH CBFP MEETING: “The CBFP adopts a new governance framework offering better opportunities for dialogue"

For five days, the meeting brought together close to 450 participants from the Congo Basin countries, donors, international organizations, NGOs, representatives of research institutions and the private sector. The agenda featured several technical and political segments which unfolded in a format modeled on those of recent Meetings of the Parties. The technical segments included the "Streams", also known as thematic consultation frameworks, which discussed a range of themes. The meeting equally provided the setting for an exhibition center and several other side events.

The EU is running the facilitation of the CBFP for the period 2016 - 2017, what is your overall view on forest governance in the Congo Basin?.. What’s your view of the Partnership’s future in terms of its overall governance in the post EU Facilitation period. What would you say is the role of COMIFAC and the actors concerned with governance of the CBFP Facilitation?

19th Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sangha Tri-National Trust Fund

The 19th meeting of the Sangha Tri-National Trust Fund Limited Board of Directors took place, from the 16th to 17th May 2017, in Kribi (Republic of Cameroon). There were ten directors (quorum reached), five staff from the FTNS Executive Office and five experts.

This report by the Africa Biodiversity Collaborative Group (ABCG) covers the annual period from October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016 of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Cooperative Agreement No. AID-OAA-A-15-00060. ITTO: Time-series data on tropical timber released

ITTO has released time-series data for 83 countries, including all ITTO producer and consumer member countries, on the production and trade of 16 primary timber products, such as logs, sawnwood, veneer and plywood. The data, for the period 1990–2016.

ITTO Latest edition of the “Tropical Timber Market Report” provides information on Improving competitive environment for US wood flooring manufacturers

Imported wood flooring lost market share in the US in 2016 and US domestic flooring manufacturers can gain an advantage says the National Wood Flooring Association. In 2016 prices for imports increased by an average 9.6%. Prices of Chinese engineered wood flooring increased by more than 13% while US-made flooring prices declined 8%. China increasingly imports hardwoods from the US to make flooring for export. Higher US sawnwood prices and rising labour costs in China have undermined the competitiveness of Chinese flooring exports.
