Brazzaville (Congo) - 15 March 2018 - An extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC) took place. The session was preceded from 13 to 14 March by the Expert meeting.

The Ministers considered the items on the agenda and following fruitful discussions, formulated the following recommendations and resolutions:
Regarding the mid-term implementation status of the two-year Action Plan 2017-2018 of the COMIFAC Executive Secretariat,
i) The Ministers took note of the mid-term implementation status of the two-year Action Plan 2017-2018 of the Executive Secretariat.
(ii) They commended the team of the Executive Secretariat on the satisfactory results achieved in the mid-term implementation of the two-year Action Plan 2017-2018 coordinated by the new statutory team.
(Iii) Similarly, the Ministers instructed the Executive Secretariat to pursue efforts to implement the two-year plan of action while taking into account the next two-year action plan in efforts to sustainably conserve peatlands.
(Iv) the Ministers instructed the Executive Secretariat to pour its efforts into preparing the next two-year action plan biennial and to take into account the rephrasing of monitoring indicators.
V) Lastly, the Ministers thanked technical and financial partners for their relentless multifaceted support in the execution of COMIFAC’s missions and the implementation of the Convergence Plan.
As regards the progress status of sub regional projects and programs,
I) The Ministers took note of progress in the implementation of sub regional programs and projects in the forestry and environmental sector as well as steps taken to prepare the second phases of some of the projects and programs.
(Ii) They thanked the partners for their multifaceted support of sub regional initiatives in the Forestry and Environmental sector….
