Two consultation meetings of CBFP Partners engaged in forest dialogue with China held in January and March 2013 in Douala, Cameroon
Thus, a first meeting was held on 28 January 2013 in the Conference Room of the Sawa Hotel in Douala (Cameroon). It was organized by Germany which is particularly responsible within CBFP for maintaining continued cooperation between China and COMIFAC. The meeting was conducted to enable partners involved to discuss their respective projects and programmes and to seek greater efficiency in actions undertaken by working in synergy and in a spirit of transparency...
A second informal meeting of representatives of partners involved in dialogue with Chinese stakeholders, was also held in Douala on 20 March 2013 on the sidelines of the recent CBFP meeting of partners (MoP). The aim of this meeting was to (1) identify concrete activities that would help to ease dialogue between COMIFAC and the State Forest Administration (SFA)of China, which are likely to integrated in the follow-up on the Beijing 2013-2015 Action Plan adopted in July 2012 within the framework of FOCAC (Forum on China Africa Cooperation) and under which China has committed itself to “help African countries improve protection and sustainable management of forests”, and (2) foster partnership with Chinese businesspersons seeking to comply with the applicable laws of host countries in line with the requirements arising from the expectations of the Chinese government (“Guidelines” for forest operators abroad) and emerging issues such as VPA-FLEGT, REDD+, certification, legality, etc.
