COMIFAC/ ECCAS – High Level Side event on 17 June 2012 from 15:30 to 17: 00 at Barra Arena, Auditorium 2 during the upcoming Rio+ 20 conference
The COMIFAC Executive Secretariat is pleased to announce a high level side event to be organized in collaboration with the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) on 17 June 2012 from 15:30 to 17: 00 at Barra Arena, Auditorium 2 during the upcoming Rio+ 20 conference.
The title of this side event is: "Commitment of the Central African countries for the implementation of Agenda 21: experiences and lessons learned from sustainable forests management in the congo Basin since 1992 and perspectives in the context of the Green Economy”.
The panel and interactive discussion will be moderated by M. Gaston Grenier, CBFP Facilitator

This side event is convened with the support of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Congo Basin Forests Partnership (CBFP). Specifically the following topics will be Presented:
1. Experience and lessons learnt on the political commitment for the sustainable forests management and the implementation of the Rio conventions in central Africa (representative of COMI FAC);
2. Contribution of forests to the sustainable Development in the Congo Basin: Opportunities and challenges (representative of AfDB) ;
3. Perspectives of the contribution of the Green economy to poverty eradication in Central Africa (representative of ECCAS);
4. lmpacts of the congo Basin forests Partnership on the sustainable Development in Central Africa (representative of USA on behalf of CBFP).
Environment and Forests Ministers of the COMIFAC member countries, other VlPs and experts from Africa, representatives of international NGO, donors, representatives of civil society, as well as other interesting participants attending the Rio + 20 conference are all invited.
