ECCAS Heads of State and Government push for new sub regional dynamics
Monday, May 25, 2015, The city of N'Djamena, Republic of Chad harbored the 15th Ordinary Session of the Conference of ECCAS Heads of State and Government. The meeting was convened by His Excellency Mr. Idriss Deby Itno, President of the Republic of Chad, and current Chairman of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).
The subregional political leadership come-together took place amid ongoing upheavals in the security and political arenas both within and beyond the sub-region. The Heads of State and Government in attendance addressed the following issues:
- Human integration, peace, security and stability,
- Physical , economic and monetary integration,
- Social and cultural integration,
- Budget plans, administration and human resources
- Accounting and Financial Controller's audit reports
- The 2015 Budget
Particular attention was devoted to the following matters: cooperation between the European Union and Central Africa, institutional reform of ECCAS, construction of the headquarters of the ECCAS General Secretariat in Libreville and readmission of the Republic of Rwanda into ECCAS.
The constructive deliberations produced major decisions and a statement for a more efficient ECCAS, able to meet the needs of Member States.
