With a view to conserving biological diversity and the sustainable use of elements such as genes, species and ecosystems, the Senegalese capital has been hosting since yesterday up till the 10th day of the month, the 10th Pan-African Workshop on Access and Sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources.
The Senegalese capital, Dakar, is hosting since yesterday up till 10 March, the 10th Pan-African Workshop on Access and sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources (ABS). Organized by the ABS capacity building initiative, under the aegis of the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development, the meeting brings together more than 130 experts, technicians and participants from various countries in Africa and Europe. As a brief reminder, the capacity-building initiative for Access and Benefit-sharing (ABS), established in 2006, is a multi-donor initiative hosted by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and managed by the Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the German Agency for International Development.
