COMIFAC: Main conclusions from twenty-sixth meeting of Central African Biodiversity Working Group (GTBAC)

The COMIFAC Executive Secretariat with the financial support of the GIZ, through its project dedicated to supporting COMIFAC, hosted from the twenty-sixth meeting of the Central African Biodiversity Working Group (GTBAC) from 15 to 18 January 2018, in Douala (Cameroon).
The twenty-sixth GTBAC meeting was held in the interval between the 13th Conference of the Parties, held in Cancun in Mexico and the 14th Conference of the Parties which will take place in Egypt at the end of the year.
It also comes on the heels of the 21st meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice, established under Article 25 of the Convention, and held in Montreal, from 11 to 14 December 2017.
The meeting aimed among other things to decode the recommendations of the 21st meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice, take stock of progress in ABS project implementation at the national and subregional levels, and assess the state of implementation of the GTBAC roadmap 2017.
The 26th GTBAC meeting brought together the Focal Points of the CBD, Cartagena Protocol and Nagoya Protocol on ABS of the following COMIFAC countries: Burundi, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, CAR, DRC, São Tomé and Príncipe and Chad as well as representatives of the following CEFDHAC member networks: REPAR, REPALEAC, REFADD and REJEFAC.
Following exchanges and discussions, the participants came up with the resolutions and recommendations presented below in the final communiqué of the twenty-sixth meeting of the Central African Biodiversity Working Group (GTBAC)
