REDD+ project managers exchange ideas with the scientific community of the University of Bangui, Central African Republic

Bangui, C.A.R, Saturday 08 April 2017. The SIKI amphitheater of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Bangui hosted an exchange meeting with the scientific communities of the University of Bangui, Central African Republic.

 

 

The main purpose of the meeting was to introduce the project to the scientific community of countries involved in PREREDD+. More specifically, it aimed to:

  • inform participants on the objectives and expected outcomes of the project at national and regional level in connection with international climate change negotiations;
  • present project accomplishments and results achieved at national and regional level highlighting important steps taken in developing allometric equations;
  • The scientific community’s involvement in developing allometric equations and calculating forest carbon stocks at country level.

 

 

The opening ceremony was chaired by the Rector of the University of Bangui, Prof. Jean-Laurent SYSSA-MAGALE, and attended by Prof. Olga Diane Bombo-YONGO, Vice-Rector of the University of Bangui, Mr. Hervé MAÏDOU, REDD+ Regional Project Coordinator and Dr. Solange Patricia MAKATIA-WANGO, Vice-Dean a.i. of the Faculty of Science of the University of Bangui.
