The mission of the Department:

To develop and lead the national conservation strategy and agenda of WWF Cameroon so that it is both highly influential in national civil society, and government entities and able to shape the sustainability agenda domestically, and also consistent with the work of the Global Practices and WWF’s global conservation goals. Also coordinates WWF partnerships locally. This will allow WWF to achieve greater conservation impact across the network.

Major functions:

To work with the Country Director, Congo Basin Conservation Director and Global Practices to identify and accelerate developing, designing and implementing a national conservation strategy that delivers the greatest impact.

The role ensures the fulfilment of WWF’s mission of ‘people living in harmony with nature’ by ensuring the relevance of our conservation work to people and development in Cameroon and providing thought leadership on key issues at the highest organisational level. The Conservation manager will lead the strategic planning, conservation strategy and future institutional development of WWF Cameroon in Cameroon, helping maintain WWF as the world’s leading conservation INGO and enabling WWF Cameroon to play a significant role in the WWF Network.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon is looking for a Landscape Assistant for Korup-Oban Landscape

Within the PSMNR-SWR set-up, the Landscape Assistant will work closely with the co-management Unit of the KNP and landscape management unit of RDFOF in order to ensure proper coordination and standardized intervention. The Landscape Assistant is the direct counterpart of the conservator of the Korup National Park, the Head of the co-management unit (CMU) at the park, Community Development Officer (CDO) and Local Support Organizations (LSO) in the animation of the co-management intervention around KNP. For its intervention at landscape level, the Landscape Assistant will collaborate directly with the Korup-Oban TOU Conservator/Assistant Conservator (DDFOF Ndian) and concerned Councils/LSOs across the protected area and landscape. Under the supervision of the Congo Basin Impact Monitoring Coordinator and the Forest Elephant Programme Lead, and in close collaboration with the Regional and Cameroon national teams, the HWC Intern will support, guide and monitoring the implementation of the C2C. He/She will compile and centralise HWC data and proceed to analyses for conflict management decision-making through the SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool) HWC module. Recruitment of a post-doctoral researcher

GDA, CIFOR-ICRAF, and the University of Yaoundé 1 are launching the recruitment for the post of a young post-doctoral researcher to carry out research on "the issue of elite capture and conversion of forest land". The researcher will be recruited for 24 months to work on the research theme entitled ‘’Political economy of the grabbing and conversion of forest lands by elites in the Congo Basin : Parallel study of the cases of Cameroon and Gabon’’. USAID - Regional Political Economy Analysis of the Forest Sector in Central Africa

USAID’s Forest and Biodiversity Support Activity is seeking expressions of interest from qualified individuals with a background in political economy analysis, forest economics, and experience in Central Africa to design and implement a Regional Political Economy Analysis (PEA) focused on the timber sector. The PEA will assess and developed targeted recommendations for USAID and other actors to effectively support governance improvements in Central Africa’s Forest sector, with an emphasis on understanding the underlying power dynamics and interests that shape allocation and exploitation of forests, reviewing political and macroeconomic factors influencing forest fiscal frameworks, and crafting effective policy responses that strengthen economic, social, and ecosystem resilience.
