WWF in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Union Commission as members of the Informal Biodiversity Support Group (IBSG) to the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) in view of reinforcing Africa’s position in the post 2020 GBF process is launching a call for expression of interest for a qualified consultant to carry out this study. Closing date: August 25, 2020.
The purpose of this study is to develop a regional synthesis report on the performance of African countries under the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020, including Aichi Biodiversity Targets and the revised and updated national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs). The performance assessment shall be based on the National Reports submitted by countries to the Secretariat of the CBD. The last report submitted by countries under the Convention is the 6th National Report that was due by 31 December 2018, according to CBD/COP/DEC/XIII/27 15 December 2016 adopted at COP13 in Cancun in 2016.
The information collated within this context will need to highlight the importance of implementing NBSAPs as revised under the 2011-2020 Biodiversity Strategy and the Aichi Targets as African priorities as adopted in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt in 2018 including initiatives like AFR100 that support economic growth, sustainable development.
