The Republics of France and Gabon have taken over the Facilitation of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP) for the period 2023- 2025. As part of the initiatives and work undertaken by previous CBFP Facilitations, we would like to organize an event to officially launch the activities of the Co-Facilitation.

Through this event, the CBFP co-facilitation, in close collaboration with the Economic Commission for Central African States (ECCAS), the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC), the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI) and the leaders of the CBFP colleges, proposes to detail its strategic axes:

• Promoting dialogue and scientific cooperation on the forests of the Congo Basin;
• Consolidating spatial planning and sustainable agricultural value chains ;
• Accelerating the development of innovative financing mechanisms
• Continue to raise the profile of the Congo Basin internationally
• Continue to strengthen dialogue and synergies with CBFP partners, in particular China and the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI).

During the conference, emphasis will be placed on highlighting the activities of the various stakeholders to implement the COMIFAC declaration of commitment, the financial commitments made at COP 26, and the promotion of a fair and equitable agreement for the protection and management of forests. The event also aims to promote the Congo Forest Basin as a source of innovation and solutions, by highlighting existing networks and initiatives.
