How can conservation policies be better evaluated?
On the sidelines of the Regional Conference on Environmental Crime and Human-Wildlife Conflict organized by the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP), a mini-training session on the use of the Evidence Barometer will take place on the morning of July 9, 2025, in Libreville (Gabon).
This session aims to strengthen participants’ capacities in evaluating public policies, particularly those related to anti-poaching strategies and wildlife crime. To maximize the impact of the training and encourage active participation, attendees are invited to review the following preparatory materials before arriving:
The User Guide of the Evidence Barometer
The Criteria Table of the Evidence Barometer
The Cameroonian policy on anti-poaching and wildlife crime strategies
These documents are essential for a comprehensive understanding of the Evidence Barometer and its practical application. Participants are encouraged to:
Carefully read the Evidence Barometer User Guide;
Review the Cameroonian policy;
Use the Barometer criteria to assess this policy as a preparatory exercise.
This preparatory work is intended to help participants engage in the training under optimal conditions, with a strong foundation and critical perspective, thereby enriching collective discussions.
A Confidential Survey to Tailor the Training
To better adapt the training content and methodology to the participants' profiles, a confidential online survey is also available. It aims to gather insights into participants' expectations, experience, and specific needs.
This mini-training promises to be a valuable opportunity for reflection, practical application, and dialogue on conservation and wildlife protection policies in the region. See you in Libreville for a morning full of learning.
