A Communication Paradigm Shift and Mine Set in favour of the Central African Forests of the Congo Basin - A Major Advocacy Debut for a greater awareness by households, populations of Western countries of the urgency to save the last Rampart of tropical forests, now the most important in the world.

A meeting place and conviviality designed to complement the Blue Zone Exhibition Spaces, the Congo Basin Initiatives Pavilion includes an exhibition space and is aimed at the general public, businesses, NGOs and COP 26 delegates and participants.Before 10am events will be reserved exclusively for delegates from COMIFAC countries.

Located in the Hall 4 PV 05 of the Blue Zone Exhibition, the COMIFAC - Congo Basin Initiatives Pavilion demonstrates, by its location and size (35 m2), the specific contribution of COMIFAC and its Partners PFBC, CAFI, GIZ COMIFAC, UK, and the extent of its commitment on the international scene, for the protection of the global climate.

An office has been set up in the Zone Blue, D 072 of Hall 3 for VIP bilateral and multilateral meetings of the COMIFAC Congo Basin Initiatives Pavilion.

The COMIFAC - Congo Basin Initiatives Pavilion is also a vehicle for media coverage of COP 26 and contributes to its regional influence in the Congo Basin and internationally.

It is the setting for official and special events such as announcements, high-level political dialogues, thematic sessions, high-level bilateral meetings, networking sessions, the presentation of public policies, the launch of study reports, the signing of commitments, and other celebrations.

Its programme of dozens of events showcases the countries of the COMIFAC space, partners from the Congo Basin, the private business sector, NGOs, civil society, young people, women and local and indigenous peoples committed to the climate, involves civil society and helps to forge international links.

The strategic priorities of the COMIFAC Pavilion - Congo Basin Initiatives in terms of nature-based solutions will be presented and discussed during thematic sessions around (1) COMIFAC Declaration "Fair Deal" - "Fair Share": Good Governance of Central African Forests and Call for Fair Financing; COP26 Joint Donor Statement; Finance and Governance (2) Climate Change Mitigation - Energy Transitions, Wood Energy, Renewable Energy -. Transparency and accounting mechanisms - Technology transfer - LED (3) Landscape restoration - Bonn Challenge - AFR100 in Central Africa - Reforestation (4) Post 2020 Ambition - Biodiversity conservation - Transboundary protected areas including transhumance (5) Sustainable Management - Forest Governance - Economy, Growth and Industrialisation (6) Climate Change Adaptation Measures - NAPA, NAP (7) Central Africa Climate Action Plan - Accelerate the implementation of NDCs and their financing in Central Africa - Facilitate inter-sectoral coordination and environmental initiatives in Central Africa: Achieving a balance between mitigation and adaptation (8) Human Rights and Livelihood Approaches for conservation, Poverty Reduction (9) Reflecting on the role of women and men, boys and girls, in local and global environment and climate movements - Empowering women and youth for transformative climate and environment justice (10) Private Sector Engagement; Public-private-Partnership - PPP (11) Intensification of agriculture focusing on improving production under optimized conditions during climate change.

Nearly 60 events in the COMIFAC Congo Basin Initiatives Pavilion

The COMIFAC Congo Basin Initiatives Pavilion will host more than four (4) high-level political events (presidential, ministerial), more than forty (46) 90-minute thematic events (three per day), sometimes in the form of collaborative workshops, discussion podiums, and collegial meetings, more than ten networking sessions as part of the exhibitions (1 per day), high-level bilateral policy meetings (2 per day), meeting and collaboration space for networking, dialogue, interactive exhibition space for the Congo Basin community, particularly those offering evidence-based examples of the role of the Congo Basin in implementing urgent global climate action.

The COMIFAC Congo Basin Initiatives Pavilion is also a media vehicle for COP 26, a shift in communication towards nature-based solutions, with the Congo Basin at the forefront as the only Rampart of tropical forests, the world's largest net positive carbon absorber. The Pavilion thus contributes to national, sub-regional and international visibility. It is the setting for official events and special events such as thematic sessions, the presentation of public policies, the awarding of prizes, the signing of commitments, announcements, and celebrations, vernissages, networking, etc....
