The CBFP in talks with the REPALEAC at the COP16 on desertification.

Ambassador Mrs Salina Grenet-Catalano, CBFP French Co-Facilitator talks with Mrs Maimanou, Coordinator of Mbororo Women Developemt Association (SURA-MAMA).

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 4 December 2024– COP 16 desertification: Ambassador Mrs Salina Grenet-Catalano, French Co-Facilitator had a meeting with Mrs Maimou, Coordinator of Mbororo Women Developemt Association (SURA-MAMA) member of the Network of Indigenous and Local Populations for the Sustainable Management of Forest Ecosystems in Central Africa (REPALEAC).

Discussions centred around the role of Indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs) in the preservation of forests and resources of the Congo Basin and the fight against desertification.

Mrs Maimanou presented the upcoming campaign by the REPALEAC to Ambassador, Mrs Salina Grenet-Catalano.  “Central Africa/Congo Basin Pledge we Want.” A call-back to an international mobilisation process of Indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs)
