The CBFP organises talks on transhumance at the COP16 on desertification

COP16 on desertification, 4 December 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ambassador Dr Aurélie Flore Koumba Pambo, CBFP Co-Facilitator of the Republic for Gabon, spokesperson of the CBFP at a side event on transhumance on the theme “Meeting between Sahel and the Northern of equatorial Africa- crossboarder transhumance-related challenges, the survival of protected areas, natural resources and human lives, development, security and peace.”

A huge mobilisation was witnessed around transhumance-related themes; Protected areas and natural resources, Peace, Security and development for climate, nature and humans.

Opening speeches were delivered by Ambassador Dr Aurélie Flore Koumba Pambo, CBFP Co-Facilitator of the Republic of Gabon and the COMIFAC Executive Secretary, Dr Hervé Marial Maidou.

 Mr Jean-Daniel Cesaro, Representative of CIRAD, presented the decisions of the conference on the theme “ Agriculture, Pastoralism, and Protected Areas”, held in N’Djamena, Chad, in October 2024.

The summary of the Declaration from the high-level Nouakchott+10 forum on livestock development and securing pastoral systems in West Africa and Sahel was made.

 After presentations, contributions of the Secretary General of the Chad Ministry of Environment and the Executive Director of the Burundian Ministry of Environment, participants applauded the meeting’s unfolding and dates chosen to further discussions.
