Dear Partners,
As the year draws to a close, we would like to thank you for your support in the implementation of the roadmap of the French-Gabonese co-facilitation of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP).
The year 2024 was crowned by the success of the 20th Meeting of the Parties to the CBFP, held in Kinshasa in June 2024, the international conference on ‘Agriculture, Pastoralism and Protected Areas’ as part of the implementation of the Ndjamena Declaration of October 2024, and the first Central African Youth Forum on Tropical Forests. Several other important meetings, such as the Regional Forum on Sustainable Value Chains held in December 2024 in Douala, Cameroon, and a series of events organized on the sidelines of the three Conferences of the Parties to the Rio Conventions, provided an opportunity to continue our collective action for the benefit of the tropical forests of the Congo Basin.
In 2025, we will continue our concerted efforts to protect the ecosystems and people of the Congo Basin. We will continue to reflect on the Post Congo Basin Pledge with a view to the 30th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (CoP 30 Climate) in 2025 in Belém, Brazil. We will also work to strengthen the functioning and governance of the CBFP. Finally, we will strive to strengthen our action against environmental crime by organizing an international conference in Libreville by mid-2025.
We wish you a happy holiday season in 2024 and an excellent year in 2025!
Ambassador Aurélie Flore Koumba Pambo, CBFP co-Facilitator for the Gabonese Republic
