Catalytic investments in forest conservation and sustainable land use in Central Africa
Canopy Trust was officially launched on 17 November in Belém, Brazil, with a collective commitment of USD 93 million from Belgium, Germany, Norway, and CAFI. Delegations from donor and recipient countries gathered at the DRC Pavilion, including H.E. Andreas Bjelland Eriksen (Norway) and H.E. Marie Nyange Ndambo (DRC).
More than 40 projects are currently in the pipeline, and 4 have already been approved for Technical Assistance in the DRC:
- Network of high-yield charcoal retorts and cassava hubs
• Sustainable charcoal production with heat recovery
• Sustainable agriculture integrated value chain initiative
• LPG micro-refilling platform to reduce dependence on wood fuel
