Towards the Publication of the 2025 EdAP and the Preparation of Major Global Biodiversity Milestones
Date: Tuesday, July 8, 2025
Time: 08:30 AM – 13:00 PM
Venue: Radisson Blu Hotel, Libreville (room to be confirmed)
Event: OFAC, COMIFAC and CBFP: EdAP 2025 Day – State of Protected and Conserved Areas in Central Africa – EdAP 2025
The EdAP 2025 Day is part of the preparation process for the third edition of the State of Protected and Conserved Areas in Central Africa (EdAP) report, led by the Central Africa Forest Observatory (OFAC), the technical body of COMIFAC.
The session will take stock of the progress made in drafting the EdAP 2025 report, identify chapters that can be showcased at upcoming international events (2025 IUCN World Conservation Congress, 2026 CBD CoP17), and update the roadmap for the process. It contributes to the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
The session will also present results from the Knowledge Exchange Forum on Target 3 implementation in the Congo Basin, co-organized by WWF and WCMC, and examine available data on wildlife, in line with the main theme of the 2025 PFBC Conference (wildlife crime and human-wildlife conflicts).
Session Objectives:
- Review the current status of report drafting
- Identify chapters ready for short-term outreach and policy relevance
- Take stock of available data and identify key data gaps
- Engage potential partners to support the process
- Update the roadmap leading to the final publication
Expected Participants:
Lead authors, national government representatives, technical partners, COMIFAC members, and relevant regional and international organizations.
This meeting marks a key step in consolidating regional biodiversity knowledge and will support the preparation of national reports due in 2026 under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
