COP 16 CBPF Congo Basin Science Meeting

This Sunday, 27 October 2024 at 10.00 Cali time in the ‘GEF Pavilion, left-hand office, in the blue zone’.

We hereby have the pleasure of inviting you to take part in a meeting of partners (Science), representatives of Science’ projects, programmes, initiatives and networks in Cali on Sunday 27 October 2024 at 10.00 Cali time. This event will take place ‘in the GEF pavilion, left-hand office, in the blue zone’. This event is part of the CBFP's tradition of holding face-to-face meetings of colleges or inter-colleges during international events. This informal meeting is a new opportunity for science following the successful participation in the IUFRO congress.

It will be an opportunity for the participants to get to know each other and also to exchange views on the approach, guidelines and messages to donors in the run-up to the meeting with the CBFP College of Donors in December. Of course, it could also provide an opportunity for greater coordination, synergy and pooling in the programming of initiative activities, project development, consortium training, etc., all with a view to a Science programming/strategic framework for COP 30 in Belém.

A proposed agenda

10:00 – 10:30: Each initiative may present themselves, what they are currently working on, and the opportunities they see for collaboration between themselves and the other initiatives.

10:30 – 10:50:  Participants to answer the question: How can these initiatives best work together to achieve common goals, and bring the narrative of the Congo Basin to the global forefront?

10:50 – 11:00: Closing Remarks, Reflections

The meeting will be moderated by Mr Cecil Haverkamp, Director of Food, Environment, Land and Development (FELD) at UNSDSN.
