On the occasion of the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Central Africa is preparing to make its voice heard through a dedicated space: the COMIFAC Initiatives Pavilion.
Co-organized by the Central African Forests Commission (COMIFAC), in collaboration with the Co-Facilitation of the French and Gabonese Republics of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP), the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI) and the GIZ Regional Project in support of COMIFAC, this pavilion will serve as a platform for dialogue, showcasing initiatives and fostering strategic collaboration on the region’s priorities.
Call for Side Events
A call for proposals has been launched for the organization of side events lasting up to 60 minutes.
These events will aim to:
- Foster dialogue among stakeholders,
- Showcase concrete initiatives,
- Highlight specific issues related to climate, biodiversity, and sustainable development in Central Africa.
By submitting a proposal, selected candidates will have the opportunity to:
✅ Contribute to an ambitious, results-oriented program,
✅ Gain increased visibility among key stakeholders present at COP30,
✅ Actively participate in the regional advocacy and coordination dynamic.
Priority Themes
Proposals addressing the following themes are particularly encouraged:
- Land resilience and drought mitigation through community-centered approaches,
- Biodiversity conservation and valorization,
- Innovative climate finance,
- Public–private partnerships,
- Interdisciplinary exchanges on sustainable development challenges in the Congo Basin.
Practical Information
- Submission deadline: 01 September 2025
- Notification of results: 30 September 2025
- Proposals will be reviewed by a technical committee based on quality, relevance, and thematic complementarity. Special attention will be given to balance in approaches and diversity of stakeholders represented.
The COMIFAC Initiatives Pavilion aims to reflect the richness, challenges, and contributions of Central Africa in global climate debates. It represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen regional cooperation and amplify collective efforts for the planet.
