
CBFP Co-Facilitator of the Republic of Gabon, Dr Aside the International conference on environmental crimes, Aurélie Flore Koumba Pambo, co-chaired, last April 8, 2025, in Paris, a high-level side event held under the theme: “Congo Basin, at the forefront against environmental crime,” together with Mrs Salina Grenet-Catalano, French Co-Facilitator of the CBFP.
The goodwill ambassador of Gabon in charge of climate, environment and sustainable development, Dr. Koumba Pambo spoke for Gabon and the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP) during round table 2 of the discussion on security and development. This session focused on the next steps of the multilateral system in 2025 and 2026 together with challenges to be faced to ensure a more efficient response to environmental crimes.
During her speech, the CBFP co-facilitator called on the participants to reflect on reinforcement perspectives of the fight against environmental crimes via multilateral mechanisms. She particularly shed light on priority actions for future international resolutions, especially the upcoming one at the General Assembly of the United Nations on the traffic of wild species, carried by Gabon and Germany.
On this day 8 April, the Gabonese ambassador took a number of strategic actions, including:
-The 16th CBFP Governing Council;
-Recording a video message for the Cabinda colloquium;
-An in-depth discussion with the Executive Director of the Royal Foundation conservation around the “United for Wildlife” initiative, as part of the preparation for the Libreville conference;
-A bilateral meeting with her French counterpart, Mrs Barbara Pompili, Ambassador for environment and former minister of Ecological Transition.
Thanks to her active commitment in Paris, Dr Aurélie Flore Koumba Pambo confirms the leadership role of Gabon and the CBFP in the fight against environmental crimes and the strategic defence of Congo Basin interests at the international level.
