EdAP 2025 Day – Shaping the Future of Protected and Conserved Areas in Central Africa

Tuesday, July 8, 2025 | Radisson Blu Hotel, Libreville, Gabon

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, on the sidelines of the CBFP Conference in Libreville, the EdAP 2025 Day will take place a key event dedicated to the state of protected and conserved areas in Central Africa. Organized by the OFAC-CE project, this session aims to advance the development of the third edition of the State of Protected and Conserved Areas Report (EdAP) a strategic tool guiding biodiversity conservation efforts in the region.

Following the 2015 and 2020 editions, EdAP 2025 emerges in a strengthened international context, notably shaped by the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The workshop will not only provide an update on the report’s progress but also identify key contributions to showcase at major global events, including the IUCN World Conservation Congress (Abu Dhabi, October 2025) and CBD CoP17 (Armenia, 2026).

The session will also present outcomes from the recent Target 3 Knowledge Exchange Forum, co-organized by WWF and WCMC, and will place particular emphasis on wildlife data, in line with the 2025 CBFP Conference’s central theme: wildlife crime and human-wildlife conflict.

Key Objectives:
• Review progress on EdAP 2025
• Identify chapters to highlight at major international events
• Pool data relevant to national reports due in 2026
• Engage new supporting partners
• Update the EdAP 2025 roadmap

Researchers, policymakers, technical experts, state representatives, and partners are expected to contribute to this collective effort. Together, they will lay the groundwork for more effective, inclusive conservation aligned with both regional and global priorities.
