Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – December 5, 2024
On the sidelines of the COP 16 on desertification, Dr. Dany Pokem, Technical Coordinator of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP), held a meeting with the Deputy Director General and member of the group of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China, at the COMIFAC-CBFP Initiatives Pavilion.
This meeting marks a new milestone in China’s deepening engagement with the CBFP. It follows a strong signal given during the 20th Meeting of the Parties (MOP 20) of the CBFP in Kinshasa, which saw, for the first time, the participation of the Chinese Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the strategic dialogue between the CBFP Donor College, Central African countries, and COMIFAC.
This bilateral exchange, conducted in a spirit of cooperation and open dialogue, reflects China's growing willingness to contribute to the preservation of the Congo Basin forests considered the world’s second green lung by becoming more involved in regional environmental governance mechanisms.
