Launch of The Third Report on the State of the World’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

Her findings will be used to revise the Second Global Action Plan.

During the 20th session of the FAO Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA 20), a side event marked the launch of the third report on the State of the World’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (PGRFA).

Building on the first reports published in 1996 and 2010, this new report provides a comprehensive assessment of the global conservation and sustainable use of PGRFA. It focuses on issues such as in situ and ex situ conservation, as well as emerging challenges related to climate change and biodiversity loss.

The findings of this report are expected to guide the revision of the Second Global Action Plan for Plant Genetic Resources, as part of the discussions at CGRFA 20.
