"High-quality information is one more step toward better climate and forest governance."
A Regional Gathering for Environmental Media
From August 26 to 28, 2025, Yaoundé hosted around twenty journalists and communicators from several Central African countries for a training on climate and forest resilience. The event was organized under the RESSAC program, which aims to bridge the gap between scientific research, policymakers, and the general public.
Training Focused on Action
Over three days, participants exchanged on:
- ecological and biodiversity issues in the Congo Basin,
- the impacts of climate change on forests and communities,
- the importance of clear and responsible communication to raise awareness and mobilize action.
The initiative aimed to strengthen media capacities so that journalists can translate research findings into accessible, useful, and engaging messages.
Contributing to Regional Resilience
By equipping journalists with practical tools and scientific understanding, this training contributed to:
- increasing the visibility of climate and forest issues in the public sphere,
- enhancing community awareness,
- promoting participatory and inclusive natural resource governance.
A Step Toward a Stronger Environmental Press
The workshop, now concluded, highlights a positive trend: a better-prepared African press capable of supporting conservation and sustainable development efforts. By fostering dialogue among researchers, communicators, and citizens, the RESSAC program paves the way for a more integrated approach to climate and forest resilience in Central Africa.
